Yes, having a cat or a dog helps....therapy

one thing that genuinely helped me is getting a cat. it doesn’t have to be a cat, it can be any animal. but having a pet makes me feel like i have something to live for. it’s really improved my depression, and i keep going for him.

Wow @caitlinShea— that’s a great idea I haven’t heard before. I think I’ll try that next time! (It does sound a little scary in a way, but a good way to safely confront feelings). Thank you!!

I try to talk to friends. Sometimes friends dont understand and will tell you things you already know you need to do but just can't. If I don't have friends who understand then I record myself breaking down. I literally talk to my camera like another person. Cry, scream, let it out to yourself. VENT! Then I watch it play back until I either accept it or feel differently. Dont post it anywhere. Its just for you. I've hit many rock bottoms but this seems to "fill in my hole"🕳 so it's not so deep.

Reach out. Find someone. A relative, a friend, a doctor. Convince them you need help. And remember that what you're feeling isn't really you. My husband and I call it "the brainworms". We imagine we have an infection and the brainworms are feeding on whatever negative feelings they can generate. Not clinically accurate, but for us it's something to get angry at & fight. You are ALIVE, that means you have a reason to keep fighting.

Do exactly what you're doing. And work for yourself. Focus on the hobbies and the good times. Force your body to move. Force yourself to smile, it sucks for a while but you do get better

Actually, let me change my answer. You do exactly what you’re doing now, and you accept how you feel and reach out for help.

Well it depends on what lead you to that point. And everyone is different. But for me personally- I think about my son and my partner. This might sound silly, but when I was younger and I’d feel defeated in every way possible- I’d imagine what “future me” would have to say on the subject. And honestly it really helped! May I ask why you’re feeling hopeless? *hugs*
