I'm a very independent person and I'm terrified of people seeing me as vulnerable or weak. I feel like my conditions are a sign of that vulnerability and weakness and i hate it so much. I know that it's nothing to be ashamed of, but i can't help but feel like i have to hide to maintain this image i've painted of myself.

Sometimes I am embarrassed, more so when it affects work. Take my most recent incident. Wednesday night I thought I was having a stroke. I kept working because I was embarrassed to admit I was weakened further than my prior diagnoses had made me. 1 hour 30 minutes after I felt the first symptoms I left the department of the hospital I work in and went to the ER. It was what is called a stroke Migraine. A Migraine so intense it puts the same amount of pressure on the brain as a stroke and creates the same damage to the body, just more temporary. It wasn't my best idea to wait, but embarrassment causes dumb decisions.
