Everyone says that in ED recovery you need support, but what happens when you’re support tries to be there, but you want to choose your ED? What happens then? How am I supposed to have a support system if they don’t want to be around me unless I am “better” but I feel like I will never be “better”?

An eating disorder is an addiction. Like in addiction recovery you may have support but those supporters can possibly get frustrated and disappointed when a relapse occurs. I think there’s some fine lines in recovery. Your team is there to SUPPORT you. And sometimes that comes off in different ways. Sometimes support doesn’t always look like praise and comfort sometimes it’s being willing to be firm. If they really love you I would see why they would want you to recover because they want you to be free. But sometimes it’s hard to show that in the correct way.
I think a true support system will be there in the hood and the bad. They don’t have to support or enable your ED habits but they should not abandon you if your struggling.
