I’ve been struggling with this one for the past 1.5 years since going through a break from a 12 year relationship. The key I have learned is to not try and wipe your memory as that will never work. In order to work through the present and live to the future you must work through the past. Work through memories, experiences, images, and things that are unpleasant. Eventually you will associate memories with new connections rather than unpleasant past connections/memories that are stuck on replay.
That’s a tough one lol because the journey there is unique to everyone!! Time is one thing that just helps that feeling but what worked for me is trying new things that I’ve never done in the past. With adhd that’s difficult due to me giving up legit everything but even just TRYING to get into something put me in a new state and overtime you have new memories and stories to think about instead of always dwelling
Look forward literally and hypothetically
