Exploring the Double Standards of Phobias

Typically when we speak of sexism or any other ism, there is one group that is historically privileged and one group that is historically oppressed. Most feminists and liberals will argue that sexism towards men is not a thing. (I am more liberal and tend to agree with this philosophy). But you have made me consider whether there can be any validity in the statement that sexism can occur towards men. I think on a small scale, personal scale, that it maybe could (which would be an unpopular opinion). But I think even then we wouldn't use the term sexism, because it indicates something larger and systematic. This doesn't mean that men for example aren't victims of domestic abuse, and need to be protected. Or shouldn't have their rights to have equal custody to children protected. That is important. Doesn't mean to be treated lesser, some people use the term reverse sexism to describe that. But the idea that women being afraid of men being sexism I would have to disagree. When the oppressed group is afraid of the oppressor group that is not an ism. But the fear of men does have a name, androphobia. Sorry I probably shouldn't get too close to politics on this app. I hope it won't be upsetting to anyone.
