The Difference Between Social Anxiety and Social Phobia

TW: Imagery of being harmed I hate it when people tell me that they understand having social anxiety. I normally let it go, but I told my boss off on Saturday. I don't have social anxiety. I have a social phobia. I told her about how I can't do dishes with other people back there, because I'm afraid they may try to drown me. How I'm worried that if I say the wrong thing to the wrong person, it may make my work life miserable. That I notice how everyone stops talking when I walk by, even the other managers. She ended up apologizing a lot, but I feel bad for getting upset with her. I know it's not her fault I'm like this, but I'm sick and tired of people assuming that a social phobia is just anxiety. I'm not nervous around people. I'm genuinely afraid of people trying to hurt me.
