if you feel/know they will understand you and be supportive, go for it. whatever reaction you receive, just know it isn't your fault

Depends, will your family support you? Then for sure! For me, I told my mom and she just said "it's all in my head." So if you think your family will blow you off I think there is plenty of ways to get help without their help. A third person involved might even give them an awakening call to how much support you actually needed.

I have a similar situation with @Lizabear, i even had a therapist explain my diagnosis to my mom and she still thinks im just being dramatic. but I think as long as you try to start the conversation its a solid start to getting your family to understand you better, and i wish you all the luck that they are understanding <3

I haven't because I was scared they'd overreact. They actually found out because someone called them. They freaked out yes as any parent would and they called my therapist and she told them to send to a psych ward/looney bin because they knew stuff from that one person then I have ever told anyone even my best friends. My parents try to support me to the best of their ability without making it seem like it's that bad a situation. If they freak out so do I. They know that. All I can say is if you feel they will support you then absolutely. Try to explain the situation in the best light you possibly can do they don't freak out as much over it. But I know if you tell the right people you'll be better for it.

yes. I kept it to myself for way too long… you’ll be better off if you tell the people who support you through life
