I usually stop eating between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM just ti make sure that my stomach is empty when I sleep, that way I know I won’t get sick. I ate at around 6:00 today because I was super hungry, and now I feel awful. I had some instant potatoes, and now I’m bloated, I’m pain, and have the body shakes. I hate when this happens! Also, is this only a me thing? When I get sick (IBS flare), my body shakes uncontrollably as if I’m super cold, but it’s way more violent than a shiver. My legs tense up and shake and my stomach tenses up. I absolutely hate it, it’s always such an awful feeling. And then I’m super worn out the next day because the shaking takes so much of my already low energy.

@Emib thank you for the wonderful advice!! I will definitely try to go slow and show my body that I’m okay.

I had similar shaking reactions for a while. What I learned was that your body can just be in a hyper vigilant stress response state and the slightest things can set it into protective mode be it an illness, a food, and emotion. Your body wants to protect you. We have to get back to the most basic foods and even activities and social gatherings etc. get back to deep breathing and slow yoga and meditation. Help your body ease out of all the things that it feels it has to protect you from. And then you’ll be able to reintroduce most everything you want to reintroduce into your life once your body feels safe and is healing. It’s possible to get out of the shakes, your body needs time to detox what’s not being detoxed and to feel safe, and heal.

I get trembly when I’m sick too. Mainly my core and my legs. So sorry you’re going through this! Do you have UC?

@Sparkly No I don’t, I have IBS! And yeah, it’s mainly my legs; they get really shaky and flail around and my stomach tenses up.
