Potatolamp - I was in this situation as the daughter. When family kept telling me to leave I put up this wall. What I think would have helped is my parents asking why I wanted to be with him. If they really listened to my thoughts and feelings, and then related to me about it instead of telling me what to do without understanding where I’m at at all. I wanted to be seen and heard too. Ask her verbalize the good and the bad and help her to see through her own perspective that she shouldn’t have to deal with his bs

What if you were in that situation and got out but now your teenage daughter wants to stay with him ? Do you think she will eventually see the truth.

I’ve been there. The best thing is to separate yourself from them as much as possible. Focus on yourself and what makes you happy. Limit your time with them. Focus on working so you can get the $ to get your own place. It’s hard, but WORTH IT. Don’t believe them, you know you better than anyone. Do things for yourself. Nature, painting, swimming, surround yourself with people who actually support you and are there for you. You can do this 💕

I'd deal with it by getting the heck outta that relationship

If possible I’d keep distant from them. If say or if you want too talk to them about how you feel and how they are making you feel
I work at a domestic violence womens shelter so I’m going to be very real with you— it doesn’t get better. If they have decided mental and emotional abuse is an acceptable way to treat you, they won’t stop there. Leave. Take care of yourself, heal, find someone who would never even consider treating you like that. It’ll take courage but you can do it.
Are you sure you should be with that person? Is there a way you can get away? Try to remember they have a problem and are pushing it on you. It's not your fault
