How do you deal with an abusive person? I love them but they have anger issues and I get it I was at that point once in my life

I would definitely make sure you get as far from them as possible. Drop all contact and keep yourself safe emotionally and physically. I was in an abusive relationship previously for years and know first hand that nothing good comes from keeping them around. Do what’s good for you. It’s okay to be “ selfish” sometimes

When he was verbally and emotionally abusive I got away from him. When he was physically abusive I called the cops on him and got a temporary restraining order. I left him, he went to anger management and AA. We got back together and as we both matured we learned to communicate better about big things and let go of little things. I never let him think he had a right or reason to hurt me. He had to deal with most of his issues on his own. I had to learn to put my well being first and set clear boundaries. Staying in a relationship with a history of abuse is risky and alot of work to get to a healthy place. If I wasn't healthy enough to take care of myself, I couldn't be much help to anyone else. If staying with them puts your health and well being at risk, consider not staying with them. I wish you the best in your future.

What do they add to your life, there isnt a good reason to abuse, maybe they need to get help, what helped you overcome your anger.
