How do I deal with a best friend who doesnt give me anywhere near the same energy I give to them? My social wellness is very poor as I have few friends & my bff is so distant to me now. This has been a significant contributor to my depression & anxiety as I have a fear of missing out. I know I should talk to them about the issues I have with our friendship, but they refuse to cause they "don't care about the past" & want to move on from things without acknowledging them or talking them out. Sooo, obviously issues will continue to arise. So it seems impossible to fix it if I can't talk to them. It's like riding on the same bus for a long ride together but not once seeing or talking to each other. The only thing I can think of that'd help is to make new online friends to help forget about them.

@jorda yeah, I went through a rough time trying to mend a relationship where I was the only one putting in effort and I kept trying to change my ways and be better but it was so emotionally draining and it took years for me to realize that they just didn’t care and didn’t want to better themselves or put in any effort, so I finally let it go, and just realized we don’t mix well together, and now i’m much happier 🤗 that’s what i learned and what i try to tell people to save them from the pain of going through a failing relationship, whether platonic or not— if they don’t care enough to change or put in effort, then maybe they’re the problem, not you. anyways, good luck love <3

it’s not odd for people to change over time; my little sister separated from her long-time best friend when she joined high school. If you feel that it’s not going well, and they seem to be becoming distant, maybe you should try to be friends with people that like you for who you are, by doing extracurricular/club stuff with people you like, or playing games online. And you can always leave that door open for your friend and say something like “hey if you ever wanna talk, i’m here”

@MuffinCat thank you!! That's exactly what I should do. I'll try my best to be more social around others with similar interests. I'll tell her im always here if she wants to talk, but she doesnt come to me anymore for that sorta help. She goes to her s/o or whoever she's messing around with. Which is fine, I just wish she'd still talk with me a lil but she chooses not to. Ohh, but she'll reconnect & be more close to someone who bullied her in the past. Just makes zero sense. Maybe she's exhausted from me idk. Eventually, people you hang around get boring no matter how extraordinary they are, so perhaps that's it

It doesn't seem like they would be your best friend if they aren't willing to give you the light of day to talk about the issues you are having or to even include you. You could definitely make friends online and find people that are equally interested in the things that you are and maybe find that you want to be friends with them more.
