@Tompkins i feel like their question was less about being nervous over whether or not they'd fit in, and more about whether or not they would be in any danger of harassment or physical harm. things are better than they used to be, but a lot of places are still very unsafe for people of color. ive never had those experiences in regards to race, but ive felt similar ways when moving somewhere new as an openly trans person. (and to OP, unfortunately i cant offer any input as im not from there, but i wish you luck!)

If I recall Montgomery is/was 60% black! I used to have a friend who lived there but we don’t talk anymore. But when they lived there a few years ago there was plenty of other black neighbors. Can’t say I remember if she had ever said if she felt commonly unsafe there other then usual complaints of older people in the grocery store and it being a red state where the politics and gov agencies are fucked up lol

You are a person... Who is black. You'll find your place anywhere you want to settle down and rest your head. Will it take a while? Yes. Will you be nervous your first time in a different place? Yes! But it's worth it... Go have fun

I don't know, but please reply back to me or something when you know. I am an Indian person and I would like to know where I can move to in the US, (for college) that's accepting of People of Color.

@darkstarrynight hi! I live in California and I recommend it. There’s a lot of diversity here, and it’s very welcoming to all ethnicities for the most part
