Is there a social cue saying I can't date a guy with the same name as my best friend's ex? Her ex did her very wrong and she gets upset thinking about him; however, she has gotten better recently since it's been two years since the break up. I've recently met a guy with the same name, and we're thinking about going on a date. He looks nothing like her ex, but I'm still anxious this will hurt her somehow. If I shouldn't date him, then I'd like to figure that out now before I catch any feelings for him. I can't ask her directly because we aren't exactly on the best terms at the moment since she's treating me a little weird. I do still care about her though and would never try to hurt her.

I dont think you shouldnt date someone just bc they hv the same name as your best friends ex, the only exception being if her ex was a really really horrible person and gave her trauma to the point that the guys name itself is a trigger but otherwise the perosn your dating is a completely different person so i think its just fine for you to date him : )
