So long story short, a girl that I befriended about 2, 3 years ago phoned me a while ago and told me that she is dating my ex now. I was so angry and upset with her. She told me her side of the story that she talked with him. He told her that he liked her and that he asked her out. She said that she had to think about it because she was going through a rough time at the time and after a while she told him yes. She profusely apologized and said that she wanted to tell me but not right away since she wanted me to figure it out myself. I told her thank you for being honest but idk if her reaction towards the situation was honest. What do you guys think? What would you guys do in this situation? Was I right for telling her good luck, thank you and gave her a fair warning by telling my side of the story?

I think I'm similar to Rueuwu in some ways. I think I'd be okay with a friend dating the ex I had who was overall a nice dude but we were in different places, and it wasn't going to work. But I've had formerly close friends who dated my abusive, rapist, and narcissist exes and knew about what they'd done to me, and that's a betrayal I wasn't able to accept. I wished them well aloud, warned my friend about what was to come, and never talked to them again. I have a mixture of bitterness at losing a friend and pity that the ex found another victim. I'm sorry you're in this situation. It's never a fun place to be. I hope you can take care of yourself while you're working through all of it.

My own personal values disagree with dating friends ex’s. I don’t want to share the same dick my friends have had it feels weird and wrong. If my ex hurt me I would feel betrayed for my friends to befriend them let alone date. It depends on your own values if you’re okay with it personally then it’s fine but if you’re not okay with it you should tell/drop her.
