It's Total Parenteral Nutrition - where you get fed through a central line so nutrients go straight into your bloodstream. So if your gastrointestinal system doesn't work properly you can have that instead of or as well as other forms of artificial feeding like tube feeding (so I have both jejunostomy feed and TPN as neither my stomach or intestines work properly but they want to keep my gastric system in use)
