For the last week or so I've been really struggling with making food. I'm hungry, I want to eat, but I can't make myself make even a bowl of cereal. The whole process of making and eating and cleaning up after feels like too large a time commitment. My friend recommended getting disposable dinnerware and buying protein shakes to make it easier to get food into me for now, but I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get over this kind of executive dysfunction

I am the same way and I have been keeping small snacks near me and lots of water. Again, please drink lots of water ! The reason I keep snacks near me is because my energy is too low to make my own food and so I eat food that’s already premade until I get the energy to make my own food again. You could also order food. So you aren’t just eating snacks.

Honestly try getting glucose tablets too that way you get energy from them and it may help you to at least eat a snack but at least with those think of it like taking medicine you need instead of just plain eating sometime putting something in you stomach will help to make you need to eat and glucose tabs are good for that plus keep you bloodsugar up and provide energy don't eat them like candy tho only do it if your really struggling to eat and need energy

Disposable plates and spoons help so much, this is the point I'm up to right now but it's even harder when you have kids you have to make breakfast, lunch, dinner and also think about snacks and if they're getting enough nutrition but I end up eating junk because I just don't have the energy for myself, doing those things for them is a must as I'm their mom but for me I just don't care. 😥

@Josie1995 your vent is so valid. I couldn’t even imagine doing that. I’m scared to have kids because if I can barely take care of myself how will I take care of them? I used to work with kids so I noticed feeling more motivated doing something for them versus myself. I used to tell myself “do it for the kids” constantly to make it thru. But also dealt with so much fatigue which made me feel guilty for feeling drained from taking care of them (when they were in my care) and not taking better care of myself. Anyways that’s to say I felt a lot of compassion reading your post. I bet it’s so difficult and stressful managing and glad you’ve found a few things to make it easier on yourself. And I’m sorry it’s a struggle and it sounds like you’re doing your best to find work-arounds. Sending love and support💕

Same. Just stare at the fridge and cupboards. For me part of it is depression and the other is nothing seems appetizing. Not sure what's up?

I struggle with this a lot. Make it as easy as possible for yourself- smoothies or shakes. When it’s hard I remind myself it doent have to be a legit meal- make sure you get your macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein) at minimum even if it’s eating random east things together. Something is better than nothing. I also take food supplements with snacks- fish oil, beef tallow, macadamia oil, black cumin seed oil capsules and grass fed beef organs. It helps increase calories when I have a snack and don’t eat a full meal and keeps me going longer than just a snack.

Yes, I second having a whole drawer or basket near you full of foods and snacks you enjoy. You can bring all sorts of kitchen appliances to you whether that's your bedroom or your favorite hang out spot. From mini fridge to microwave to even a coffee maker, blender, or toaster. Sometimes if I can convince myself that it's not that hard or that far I can get over the hump.

Try snacking on chips or crackers
