Wow. So I went to see an orthopedist today after an MRI, and it turns out the “muscle injury” I had last year wasn’t a muscle injury at all. I BROKE MY BACK. It’s healed now, but the pain is still there, which is why I went to see him today. It’s a dull but chronic pain. He said he *could* fix it, but the procedure would involve intentionally breaking more bones including that healed backbone and a few ribs first, which could cause even more trouble than I’m having now, so he wouldn’t advise it. I’m just in shock that I BROKE MY SPINE last year and no one caught it, not even in the MRI. No wonder I was in such excruciating pain then. But my PCP said it was just a muscle issue and not to worry about it. He’s a very “hands off” doctor. I like him a lot as a person, but as a doctor, I sometimes wonder if I should get someone more hands on.
