I had a strange flare-up over the weekend. all of a sudden, I had a burning, pins and needles wave come over me. I'm new to fibro so is this common? I'm on gabapentin. sensation lasted about an hour.

That would be a flareup for sure. It sucks. If your fibro worsens, you can experience new things you didn't know were related.

Have you heard of the Invisible Kingdom book? It’s a journalist’s journey with chronic illness. It helped me feel less alone and taught me about so many other chronic illnesses. I know it may not help physically, but your experience reminds me of the author’s. Hope your flare calms down soon. 💕 💕 💕

Try talking to your doctor about physical therapy specifically curated for your fibromayalgia. You may benefit. It can be painful but the end result could be worth it. I have heard a lot of people who had aqua therapy at their reach start to improve and be able to go back to their regular life. I also hope gabapentin treats you well. The side effects to most nerve pain medications make you question everything. :/

Notice your activity before & during the incident. When did you take the Gabapentin last? Were you taking the med on a specific schedule?

I have the pens and needles sensation but not burning. At that time I am usually more sensitive to anything touching my skin.

@Vo yes, it felt like anything that was exposed got the sensation. Maybe since it was my first flare up I thought it was burning. It just felt like thousands of pins and needles all over my skin at the same time. It was awful.
