Why am I not able to ask people to do normal things. Like ask them to remove their shoes at the front door. It really shouldn't be this difficult to ask people for things I want especially simple ones like that... So frustrating

If someone is coming in to your house, you most definitely have the right to ask them to remove their shoes. It actually isn't as uncommom as one may think. Maybe put up a sign at your front door that ask people to remove their shoes. You could either buy it online or make your own.

I just recently had to set boundaries and the pushback from my brain was strong, so I totally get it. Just know, maybe you _can_ handle the pushback. ❤️ Pushback for me looks like, ‘if I don’t overdrive my kindness, there’s no proof I’m kind’ or ‘they’ll judge me and they’ll disappear’ Absolutely obscene when I look at the pushback the next day! I hope that helps. It didn’t help me until I started getting support from this app, actually, but it helped a lot to recognize that my thoughts/fears aren’t fact

I'm a people pleaser myself so I struggled with the same thing.
I'm sorry you feel that way 😔 maybe try saying something like "if you want to take off your shoes you can leave them...(whereveryou keep your shoes)" it's not a request then and they have the option to say no if they feel that strongly about it
I'm that way too. I also have a very hard time telling people "no"
@AstraDragon yeah same, it's like you constantly need to think about everything and how to best please everyone else. I'm so draining
Hey your house your rules. Try to be congenial and friendly when asking.
How do you feel when you go to ask people to do something like remove their shoes at the front door? I struggle with always worrying that people think I'm being too bossy or too bitchy but you know what It is your home and people need to respect that . The majority of people won't have any issue with it if you ask them politely. And if they do have a problem with it then ask them why it matters so much to them. It does not matter why you're asking them to do it, it is your home and your space and you're doing absolutely nothing wrong.

@NurseyPA I feel like I don't have the right to ask them because I don't matter plus I'd rather them be happy than me. If that makes sense. I know it's my house my rules but I still don't feel I deserve to right to ask.
