i have my first cardiology appointment 2 days from now after suspecting i have pots (or at least some form of dysautonomia) after a bad concussion over a year ago. i'm incredibly anxious about not being believed, even though I've been documenting things for months now and have a friend (who is dx with pots) helping me make lifestyle changes to alleviate my symptoms. does this worry over "not being sick enough" ever go away? did an official pots dx actually help you? any tips to make my dr believe me? am i a bad person for already assuming i'll have to fight my dr about this? send help, i'm a mess..!

@illdothislater that's awesome! Hopefully the ultrasound and monitor will provide more info, if needed!

You're definitely not a bad person for assuming you might have to fight the Dr about it. Unfortunately, lots of doctors don't believe people (especially women) about things like POTS. I still struggle with thinking I'm "not sick enough" sometimes, but my dx has definitely helped! It's good that you've been documenting things, that should help! My best tip for a Dr not believing you is to look for a new one. I've had some really supportive providers who actually listen, but the ones who don't just aren't worth your time or effort. Good luck!

@RainbowNarwhal you deserve an update: my cardiologist officially dx'd me with neurocardiogenic syncope! I'm over the moon that my dr actually listened and validated my experience without much (if any) fighting. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next month and I'm gonna be put on a 30-day event monitor once it comes in the mail starting next week. Thanks again for the encouragement and tips!
