Wow. I did not realize there was so much overlap in ADHD and OCD. I definitely experience some symptoms of rOCD. Especially in rumination and uncertainty of whether I'm in a relationship that is making me worse or better. I spend an unacceptable amount of time in my head about these things. To cope I try to rationalize and refocus my attention elsewhere when I become aware that I'm fixating, but up until reading this conversation thread I had no idea that this could be rOCD.

@Bipolar_Barbie I do exactly the same thing. i especially hyperfixate on whether or not it’s “right”… and question my feelings for my partner and I go back and forth in my head. it’s so exhausting (and probably exhausting for him as well)
@onesmallrat Same! Admittedly I keep most of the turbulent thoughts about the relationship to myself. I haven't figured out if not voicing my uncertainties is for better or for worse. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Yes for sure, even though adhd can 100% look like another disguised disorder i talked to my therapist and she confirmed that adhd absolutely does this as well as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria which can contribute to emotional dis-regulation
yes absolutely , i have ocd and one of my main obessions is relationships. my adhd definitely makes it more difficult to emotionally regulate
@ftrsyck how does that manifest in relationships?? I find myself constantly dwelling on whether or not it’s “right”, and questioning my feelings for my partner - we even broke up for a little bit, because of it. (And I was an absolute MESS)
@onesmallrat i totally feel you, i have episodes of wondering if im not attracted to my partner or if im losing feelings etc. its really taxing but my boyfriend is super supportive and kind and helps me a lot
