So I was diagnosed with ADHD last year but then I was forced to switch psychiatrists and my current one UNdiagnosed me with it and said "you seem normal enough" and has been trying to thwart my therapists efforts to get me re-evaluated a second time. I can't switch psychiatrists. How do I even cope with this situation?

Also, even if this person is getting in the way, don’t panic, bc you will get to replace them one day, and you will have many more opportunities over the course of your life to get that eval. the situation while tough, is not permanent. ❤️

Also, it is normal to have ADHD and not having it isn’t being “normal.” this person seems ignorant.

Prep yourself with self care both before AND after seeing them. have a plan and a list for that. and whenever possible, try to switch to a new one the second you get the chance. that’s important. i think creating and using your own affirmations would also benefit you here. personally, i believe you. gaslighting is something the neurodivergent community experiences all the time, so you have people who get it in the community. i have personally seen doctors who have tried to tell me i don’t have stuff i clearly have. they seem like they’re on some sort of power trip, only care what they think, and think they are so smart for seeing that. journaling could also help you process and cope with, it and give you an opportunity to write what you really wish you could say to this person in the appointments. you don’t wanna hold all the things you wish you could say inside. ultimately it is really important you find someone else ASAP. that appears to be the most effective solution to this imo. good luck ❤️
