Howdy everyone, I had something interesting happen the other day. I had a call with a substitute psychiatrist yesterday, my usual one is on maternity leave. At the end of our session, he said “I think you have ADHD.” Personally, I’ve always felt like there was some kind of missing piece in my mental health journey so me having it makes sense to me. However, my regular psych has never mentioned it as a possibility and when I approached her about the possibility of being neurodivergent, she dismissed it. The sub has a much longer history in working with afab people with mental illnesses and their comorbidities. Do y’all have any advice?

I recommend looking through the dsm-5 and making notes of the behaviors you show, and addressing your original psychiatrist about them. You can also ask to take a test for it.
