Has anyone had a parent or have a parent who is/was abusive (especially emotionally) and feels like you cant tell your doctors about your concerns or why you are having trouble with your diabetes? Like you kind of feel like you will get in trouble even though they cant hurt you? Cuz like with my dad i would always get in trouble and be told im going to die and get things taken away and stuff and i started to not be able to talk to my doctors and i would also make a little plan to start taking care of it two weeks before an appointment because thats how far they would check for blood sugars. Also with like mental health too. Like do yall get what im saying?

My mom doesn’t do this much anymore but I told her my a1c sucked and she started acting like she was always on top of helping me handle my diabetes. She doesn’t have a clue half the time why my blood sugar gets high. I’m kind of reluctant to do extra shots is the reason but she thinks it’s because I shouldn’t eat certain things etc etc. It mostly makes me want to defy her rather then have her help me. I hope that makes sense.
