      But I also grew up in a conservative religious household and was taught to ignore my symptoms and rather ‘pray them away’. But it only taught me to suppress my symptoms or invalidate them ( it’s just in my head, I’m just being weak), and eventually led to a complete mental breakdown that left me disabled. I still have faith, but I also understand the severity of mental health symptoms and the necessity for medical treatment.

      OCD is a condition where your symptoms can fluctuate or ‘flare up’, specifically under stress.. I think it’s really beautiful to seek peace and support through prayer, but OCD is a mental health disorder that typically requires professional treatment to manage the symptoms.. researching more about OCD may help you understand how you relate to it. It was a long time before I knew the symptoms I was experiencing were from OCD before I was diagnosed.
