I hate having to go through a period. I always lose so much blood, and I might as well be spinning the wheel on how long it will last. I'm currently on week three, and it just keeps getting heavier and heavier. I've been taking iron pills every morning, so hopefully I'm not anemic. I want to call my doctor but I'm scared that one of two things will happen. 1) They tell me to wait it out or they can't see me for a few weeks and I have to wait anyway. 2) They tell me to go to the emergency room. I probably have endometriosis, but I can't afford to get the laparoscopic surgery to confirm it yet. The pain is bad, and otc pain killers don't even touch it. Does anyone have any advice for managing the pain or stopping/lessening the bleeding?

@CGC I actually found out that this period has been so bad because my doctor prescribed me a new medication without checking my medical records first. The medication causes heavy bleeding and cramping during periods, and that's what caused mine to be so bad

Hormonal birth control !!! Only thing that helps apart from the excision surgery. Best of luck!! Endo sucks balls

First, I am so sorry. No one should have to go through this and as someone who bled heavily for 27/28 days, have 3 days off, a month here's some things I wish I new before 2 ablations and a hestorectomy. Birthcontrol šŸ’Š stops your natural hormones it doesn't help and can hurt you longer down the road. Heavy bleeding can be from having too much iron in you and not enough copper to process that iron, leading to the heavy period. I take a beef liver supplement because I cant stand liver šŸ¤¢ also bio-identical hormone support does help. Its not normal but sadly it is common. I hope you can find some relief from your pain.

@Foof I just found out that the new anxiety medication I'm on, Buspirone, has been known to cause heavy bleeding during menstrual cycles. I really wish my doctor would have checked my medical records before prescribing it to me, but I'm glad I caught it early.

@Entropyluna its so disheartening with the American health care and the lack of informed consent and they look at you like your crazy if you ask for more info. Glad you found that out quickly. Birthcontrol pill can also deplete magnesium, vit B, vit E, vit C and selenium all which can cause a heavier flow. As someone who was left with no opinions but BC pill for many years it got significantly worse until I started taking supplements to replenish what it was depleting. Keep advocating for yourself and know you are not alone but that doesn't mean its ok to be given medications without informed consent.

@Foof unfortunately birth control is my only option right now, as the pain can get so unbearable that I can't even move. šŸ˜„ I wish the American healthcare system was better at providing necessary care, especially to women and POC. But I appreciate the advice. I'll look into beef liver supplements and see if it helps!
