How can I be more firm to my parents about respecting my triggers? I've told them about mine and they just don't seem to care or have understanding of it. One of my triggers is citrus scented cleaners and my dad today cleaned my kitchen with some he brought over. My mother-in-law has been nothing but kind and respectful and all it took was one conversation.

tell them that if they don't change their behavior then your reactions won't either. that all it does is put you under emotional distress and pushes you away from them. I had to do something similar with my dad about my eating disorders that he would trigger. it made my dad change it so fast, if they care about you they'll stop this and make it clear that's how you feel about it too. best of luck friend, it'll get better :)

Maybe if you’re in therapy you could ask the therapist to talk to them? Or you could show them some explanations online regarding PTSD?
