Hello! I’ve been struggling with anxiety for almost 13 years. I feel like It’s getting worse. Medication only makes me sleepy and down. How do you get through the day? I just want some type of life back. I meditate, listen to relaxing music and pray. It’s almost like I have to push myself to do anything.

I struggle with the same stuff and it's so tough. My advice would be to stick to anything that makes you feel better. If meditation, relaxing music, and prayer help you out, keep it up. It can take a while to see results when it comes to things like meditation but set small goals for yourself and be proud of yourself for every day that you're able to do it. I relate to having trouble getting yourself to do things, so remember to start small and go easy on yourself. Some other things I do to keep myself afloat throughout the day (these aren't "cures" but just some things I do so that I'm not constantly focused on anxiety): journaling every day, writing down positive affirmations, coloring, engaging in comfort media (like watching childhood shows and movies), reading books and listening to audiobooks, cozy games (Animal Crossing, The Sims, Stardew Valley), following social media accounts that post motivational and encouraging messages. Good luck with everything and hope something works out for you soon. You've got this.

I feel for you 100%. I've had generalized anxiety disorder for 14 years and it can be so overwhelming. Small tasks seems so hard. Plus all the symptoms on top of it. I like taking walks when I can, it has been known to be a good stress relief, plus it's not to strenuous, it helps my mood and helps me feel less anxious. Sitting outside or getting sunlight helps me also. If I'm having an attack I'll try and distract my mind, I'll color or play a game, anything that you enjoy that will distract your mind can be helpful. Chamomile tea can be helpful as well.

Hey Nasha! I see a therapist. Journaling helps, especially to help pinpoint triggers. In addition to my anti anxiety meds, ashwaganda works great!! What woks best for me though are grounding and breathing exercises

@GardenSuzy excellent advice 👍agree
Exercise, including yoga, cardio, and weights has changed my life. I went from a grieving wife in a ball of painful anxiety to a mom that's setting an example for my 6 grown kids. Remember don't discount the benefits of getting things out on paper in a journal. It's so therapeutic and they have topic specific journals out there now.
I would recommend checking your blood sugar or A1c. Sounds crazy perhaps, but for 30 years I was diagnosed with panic, anxiety, and agoraphobia. In 2018, I found out I was diabetic. I totally changed my diet, cutting out sugar and eating lower carbs. A happy side effect was my panic attacks stopped, and my anxiety barely exists. I just want to tell everyone I can because I can't be the only one this happened to. I hope you find relief. ❤️

Exercise is huge for me, and talking to people about what I'm feeling anxious about. I do also take medication.
@Stella3 Thank You! I must admit exercising hasn’t being one of my top priorities lately. I know it helped before… just need to push myself to start again. Thanks for the encouragement

Anxiety sure can be debilitating. I take buspar which does not make you tired, but there’s a lot of natural things! Olly has a stress less gummy which has gaba, l-theanine and lemon baum in it which actually does help . Also certain vitamins like D can help . Ashawaganda helps a lot of people. But outside of things you can take , I write in a journal, which really helps. Its good to get your thoughts out somewhere with no judgement. Talking to friends and family, just vent it out , that really has saved my life . Good luck .

@Oz_Girl Thank you so much. I’ve taken L-Theanine in the past. It started being hard to find around my area. But I’m going to give the Olly gummies a try. I’ll do anything for relief and to more good days than down days. Thanks again
@Nasha you got this hunny. Stay confident, tell yourself that you are healing and each day is getting better.
@Nasha absolutely, talk therapy saved my life. My husband and my sister especially.
