Does anyone else get triggered by stress that’s non-related to your trauma? I was diagnosed with PTSD formally by a therapist 3 years ago or so, and informally with complex PTSD or CPTSD. I’ve gone to a lot of therapy after struggling with meth addiction, bipolar disorder complications, etc. While there are normal ups and downs, I’ve been doing really well the past year. I finished my masters and started a new job… but the work environment is toxic, I don’t see eye to eye with my coworkers at all, I am being hazed/bullied, and the work itself is extremely high stress and at times, dangerous. I’ve been working there for 6 weeks and I’ve started having nightmares about my trauma again, and I have started dissociating regularly. I can’t think of any reason why my symptoms would return other than the stress. Has anyone else experienced this?

I guess I forget that interpersonal interactions can be triggering, because my most salient trauma is a variety of SA and incest that happened in my childhood. I think the “mirrored” part might be that I feel like I have no control of the situation and have little agency to set boundaries (as there are very little to none) in my division. I’ll bring this up in therapy next time I go!

CPTSD has a lot to do with interpersonal relationships (especially if the source of trauma came from someone who you love) and triggers aren't necessarily specific things like what is seen in normal PTSD. Maybe your current work relationships are mirroring the past? Are these feelings you get from these relationships familiar to you in some way? Also, is it possible that you're struggling with setting boundaries? I can't know for sure what your situation is, but these might be useful things to reflect on.
