@ginkgowink that’s so interesting! It’s wild how music & sound affect our bodies

Music, I put my headphones in and focus on every part of the song.

Watching a really engaging movie or tv show, or one that’s very familiar and comforting. If the pain isn’t too terrible then talking with a close friend or doin something fun like paint by numbers or going out for coffee/tea can be distracting enough. I also do crossword puzzles online or read an easy book while I have a heating pad or ice pack on my most painful areas. Listening to Binaural beats (the “sleeptube” channel on YouTube is my favorite) I’ve found also really helps me. I can zone out to it and relax without having to do work like meditating. Physically resting often helps my pain but it’s hard to do, but binaural beats are distracting enough that I can lay down for 30 min to an hour and just rest. There have also been a few studies that show listening to theta binaural beats (with headphones) actually reduces pain and eventually leads to less use of pain medication, which is wild! It sounds too good to be true, but I have been finding it helpful.

Arts & crafty stuff. It has always been my therapy.

This app, actually! Writing about my own pain and giving advice is how I feel "in control", so it soothes me. Actually, I only open Alike when my pain is really bad.... Like now. I should probs lay off on the typing. Lmao

@Blinky I also find this app soothing! Partly I think from knowing I’m not alone in my pain. Not that I want anyone else to also be going through anything like this, but there’s something about talking to people who get it. And speech to text is my savior when the pain in my hands is bad

@Akasha13s can you elaborate on healing frequencies? I don’t know what that is

        • Akasha13s

          624d

@Lew_Bear YouTube it.... different frequencies of music can vibrate and balance things in our bodies. Our bodies are energetically driven... sound can match that and heal

2248 puzzle. Simple math adding, doubling mainly. Enough moves that you can try to get as many blocks involved in a single move. If you miss some, you get them in a future move. Ice. Holding my head in hand and slight messaging movements. Eye movement therapy brought my 3 migraines a day post-surgery back down to usually just 1 a day. It only took 2 months tk achieve. Imitrex. Once i started with imitrex in 1993, live changed. For me, not only does it knock out migraine pain in an hour, but it knocks out other pain too. Last week had burning pIain in upper back. 7/10. Seriously though maybe it was heart pain. Took imitrex for my migraine and ALL the backpain went away too. I took some nsaids too but it didnt return in 4 or 6 hours, so it probably wasnt the nsaids that worked. Ive had similar experience when taking prior to surgery. Great side effect, often eliminates other pain too.

@Blue314 been knitting and crocheting for over 10 years. Definitely agree it helps. I hate when my hand pain is too bad for it tho

@Blue314 I knit. It helps distract me and I get to feel productive. I'm currently knitting a giant memorial rat for a friend who lost her beloved pet rat.

I tend to play simpler video games like spyro something. It doesn't take a lot of focus and it's relaxing

@tayto I use Animal Crossing. But it totally helps.

@Red914 I’m playing animal crossing as we speak 😅 it’s so relaxing and takes up just enough of my brain power to keep my mind away from pain
