Need advice on treating my diverticulosis

My gastroenterologist prescribed Colestid for my diverticulosis, to slow down the motility in my bowels….and said “see you in five years for your colonoscopy” the Colestid with gluten free oatmeal every morning has been life changing 🎉 but I feel like he did not offer advice about how to help heal my diverticulosis. And the Colestid binds important nutrients, which over time can’t be good. I feel like I don’t have a resource to guide me to heal my colon and keep my condition from worsening. At least I don’t have to stay home until 10am to be close to the bathroom.
