Dealing with IBS-D for 20 years, need advice on diagnosis

ok. I was diagnosed with ibs-d 20 years ago. I was on lotronox for 20 years. then in 2020, treatment failed. I haven't been diagnosed with anything except diverticulitis. I'm still in the bathroom 15 to 20 times a day. my rectum hurts and I constantly feel the need to "go". I have a colonoscopy and egd next week. I almost wish I have uc that way there's meds to help. any advice on your diagnosis would be helpful.

You think your alone until now! Medications didn't help. I was stressed all the time. Once I stayed in Therapy removed the stress triggers, drank Aloe Vera juice and exercised I began to get well. I know my body 40 yrs later I do not feel hopeless. When I have an episode I know when I need to check myself. What a Journey...

I lost my gallbladder. I often wonder if that's an issue for my digestion.

I had my gallbladder out in 2007 but have had issues my whole life. Doesn’t hurt to bring it up to a gastro Dr and see if they will let you try the meds (no real test other than seeing if the meds work, per my Dr).

Look into Bile Acid Diarrhea and see if you feel like it fits. It has never been mentioned to me (or anyone in my family) but I tried the meds and I feel like a different person without running to the bathroom a million times.

I was on cholestyramine for years and it failed when the lotronox failed. I've tried colestopol and it doesn't work for me. Thank you for the advice.

I remember those early days very well colonoscopy is how I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulitis and I was in my mid-20s it's quite a process to figure out what triggers things for you but for me stress food and lifestyle we're the biggest issues that I had to deal with

You probably have leaky gut syndrome. You need to heal the lining with collagen and bone broth. Start keeping a food diary. Eat one item, see how you feel, jot it down, etc. You should notice a pattern. Stay away from wheat, dairy and sugar. If you need more info I'll help you further.
