Does anyone know how to deal with Social anxiety at school?? I have an emotional support cat but I can't take her to school. So I'm wondering how to deal with it because one of my main stressers is school.

I have my ESA dog at college. I was able to receive accomodations with some documentation from my therapist. It might be different depending on what state you live in, but I'm pretty sure mental illness is included in the ADA act and should be recognized as a legitimate disability. ESAs are not protected under the ADA act like service animals are, but they are still covered under the Fair Housing Act, which the school should still have to accommodate as far as I'm sure. The biggest thing is having necessary documentation from your doctor or therapist.

ur username…it’s just like mine but w animals instead of cats (I have social anxiety too 🥲)
Thank you for telling me Kendoll! I shall show them the legal documents. Also yes, it is very much a bunch of work, I'm hoping it'll change soon.
My school only looks at physical disabilities for some reason, I will start bringing comforting things to school and talk to my doctor about it. Thank you!
If your service animal is registered, its not up to them weather they think youre disabled or not. Legal documents are legal documents. Your school seems like a bunch of work. Godspeed <3
Bring comforting things: headphones, snacks, a drink, fuzzy sweater. You can also check the school to see what options they have for disabilities. With a doctor’s note or signature, you may be able to have quiet periods or may be able to do some of your work from home.
The school doesn't consider me to have a disability. They told me this whenever I asked if I could bring her.
You should be able to take service animals to schools. Look into the law, they might be violating something.
