What helps when anxiety strips away all motivation to do anything? I'm struggling to find motivation to do basic necessary things I haven't been able to wash my dishes in a week. I'm even losing my passion for the things that used to help my condition.

When I get overwhelmed I start to shut down. To get past that, I make a checklist of everything I want to do. Anything that takes less than 5 minutes I tick off. Seeing the progress really helps me move forward.

When I lost all my motivation a realized that I could still obey. If my husband specifically told me a small job to do, I would pretend to be a robot or cinderella or whatever, and once I was doing a task for 1-4 minutes (I'd have to time myself sometimes) then my body could follow the motions and complete the task. Which led to a crazy list making process. I preceeded to list out every single task that was absolutely needed in a day (including eating, naps, hydration breaks, showing, and dog pets) and would robot through them. I excluded all things I'd like to get done and just focused on things I had to do to survive. Just seeing 2 or 3 things accomplished a day really boosted moral. After a few days I could accomplish a little bit more and then more.

It helps me when I find a self-esteem lifter! It’s strange, because depression and anxiety is just that: depression and anxiety, but oftentimes it can dissipate for an hour or two when I’m feeling good about myself :) and I’m eternally grateful I can take advantage of that. Maybe do something for someone else! Doing dishes is easier for me tbh when it’s for another person. I’ll oftentimes get 2 dishes done afterwards on my own, too. Or, you can talk to someone who believes in you (and if you need, I can be that person! You’re doing GREAT!!). I’m so sorry I can’t fix it…but i want to share what works for me in hopes that it’ll help you too ❤️
