My parents fought very often before they broke up when I was four, and even after their split I grew up around a lot of yelling from them and my sister. Anytime I hear yelling now (specifically angry, happy has no effect on me) it gives me so much anxiety, even when it's not directed at me; could this be a PTSD symptom?

Definitely could be. Emotional and verbal abuse are widely ignored and generally if there are no physical signs to show for abuse, then it is not seen as valid. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and have never been physically abused. I have dealt with lots of yelling and psychological abuse that have left me with flashbacks, nightmares, and self esteem issues. I have been out of the abusive situation for almost 5 years now and the most prominent effect on my life from then to today is having nightmares about my situation almost every night. Yelling is something that also triggers me.
