does anyone have any tips or suggestions for cleaning your house and getting rid of things. I know it needs to be done but I just get overwhelmed and don't know where or how to start and just continue to get even more overwhelmed the more I try

I have found that the most helpful thing is just re-evaluating my expectations for myself. The keys for me are to 1) break things down into smaller tasks so they feel less overwhelming, and 2) put chores into a set schedule so it becomes part of my routine and I don’t have to decide when to do it. Rewarding myself for my efforts also helps! If I feel overwhelmed by the pile of laundry that needs to be put away, can I just deal with 3 pieces of clothing right now and come back to the rest later? Can I pick up the floor in one room every day instead of feeling like I have to do the whole house in the same session? I have a robot vacuum and mop that are scheduled to run at the same time every day, so my floors stay cleaner without me having to think about it so much, and I highly recommend that if it’s an accessible option for you. I also keep a toilet cleaner wand and pack of disinfecting wipes in my bathroom, so that if I notice the toilet is getting dirty or the sink needs to be wiped off, I can take 2 minutes to take care of it right then without having to make the effort to go get cleaning supplies and spend time cleaning the whole bathroom. Good luck! I hope you find what works for you!
Brain dump! Start writing down possible things you could do. And this is the important bit- start with the *easiest*. Sometimrs it gives you momentum. Text a before and after photo to a friend for some external peer pressure.
