Is anyone else an age regressor? Let's talk about it!! For those who don't know, age regression or "agere" as it's commonly shortened to is mentally and behaviorally 'regressing' to a younger age! Some use it as a coping mechanism and some do it for fun! Personally I regression to the ages of 2-5, I'm cg-dependant (meaning I can't or wont regress without my caregiver present or triggering it), I regress both as a form of coping and for fun! It can really take my mind off of any stressors and give me a safe headspace Do you regress? Would you try it? What's your experience with regression?

@BabyBells Sorry I was really regressed when I wrote that

I do without realising then feel guilty about it... I don't know why as there is nothing inherently wrong with it! Maybe it's because I've never experienced a 'normal' childhood/teenagehood

i cant tell when im regressing i honestly think im a much younger age constantly all day everyday pretending to be an adult. But i have an imaginary man that i see as my cg. I dont know where the like is between my autistic support needs and me just being in little space lol. but i dont think i care either… its what makes me me.

I'm definitely an age regressor, I don't know to what age but I know I do it
@Saturn_Silver what kind of stuff do you do?
I'm a regressor! I regress anywhere from 6-12 depending on the day Im having ❤️ I usually grab strawberry milk and a plushie and watch cartoons 😎
@ShortcakeBirdie that sounds lovely
YES I hate when people s3ggzualiz3 it cause like autistic might regress like I do when I'm overstimulated but also BABIES regress. Literally. Toddlers regress cause they want the attention they had as a baby- but when you get older it's because you realize it isn't about attention anymore and you just wanna feel safe

I don't know if I regress, my mother described it as a form of regressing but the only time it happens is when I'm in like...reality-shattering levels of stress. Like to the point that I'm not even aware what I'm experiencing isn't real. So I'm not sure if that's regressing or not, sorry if it isn't.
@Starcycle I relate to this tbh
I age regress, but not all that often. When I do, it's not usually a fun experience, because I hear overlapping voices in my head, some yelling awful things, others trying to calm me. I always end up crying and napping when it happens, and when I wake up, I'm usually fine and out of little space The last time I did it was decently pleasant. The voice saying foul and upsetting things was quieter, and the more soothing voice was calming me the entire time
I'm not sure if I am one or not
I'm not sure if I'm a regressor or I am just a naturally childish person honestly. 🤔

I'm not sure if it's really age regression, but I have a lot of "childish" interests and tend to act more goofy and use a higher tone of voice specifically around my boyfriend and around animals. I never thought about it fully until I saw your comment about being caregiver-dependent, but it's almost like I feel safe being myself in those contexts, because I know animals don't care and I've known my boyfriend long enough to know he thinks I'm cute and isn't judgmental. I never act that way at work or anything so I guess it's voluntary. With autism it's hard to differentiate between what I'd consider masking vs age regression, but it's probably a combination

I use age regression as a coping mechanism my mom died 2 years ago and my happiest memorys are from age 4-10 so I don't really have the choice in it happening my mental health did it as I was in England where she was in Boston Massachusetts USA

I age-dream, don’t fully regress. I find a lot of comfort in “childish” things like tv shows/movies and drawing/coloring

Idk if its the same thing but I felt like I wanted to age regress to uow I was in school. Like my looks and everything and the things I was doing and I wanted to shave my beard off completely instead of just having stubble . I liked how people saw me back then

I regress and alot of my family doesn't understand it
yes i’ve been slowly learning how to be comfy with it. idk what ages i can’t rly tell but only 3 ppl irl know. told my best friend yesterday because in a video a system was switching to a little and I talked abt how it triggers me to regress and they were nice abt it yay psych majors// anyone who has an adult agere/petre server plz lmk
@moonwxtcher I'm a psych major and I run an agere tumblr blog if that counts? Ive been considering a server but I havent had great luck with it before :/

I'm typically 10-12 and it can be fun at first. But when I need to be responsible it's horrible. Because it's mentally hard to be.
Mine is usually just to cope. My sister used to get really annoyed when I would suddenly go from being my usual age to 12 or even 3 years old. But sometimes it happens unintentionally for good things too like if I am in a theme park or in a children's store I will age regress.

I regress because my childhood was ass. I regress to 2-6 but normally 4-6.
I regress too! I regress to the age of 12. I was the happiest then. It was before my other trauma began.
I regress as well!!!! I'm the type of regressor where it's very much stemmed from dissociation
419d
@Starishere831 same I have osdd
I think I do it unintentionally sometimes, I'm not sure! I become childlike and huggy and talk in a small, babyish voice but I think I still percieve the world as the age I am? At least, I get annoyed when people mimic my childlikeness 😅

@Finleaf sounds like age dreaming!!

@Adora.Everlasting ooh I've not heard of that!! I'll look into it, thank you!
i think i regress ? i’ve been trying to figure out if i’m regressing or just getting hyper & acting like a child (now that i say it out loud it sounds more like agere but idk). i think i regress to about 5 & it’s fun for me but when i happen to be regressing in front of my family, they all ridicule me for it

@purpleSheep probably a little regression going on
@purpleSheep oh that's not fair or nice of your family :( as for the first part, it might be a combo of both!
my age regression is completely unintentional and it's ruining my life
@zellarius oh no!! can I ask how it's ruining your life /genq out of pure curiosity
@Adora.Everlasting sure no prob! my age regression happens often in inappropriate or inconvenient situations, and it's very difficult and distressing for me to have to navigate an adult world and adult responsibilities while being around 6 years old mentally. age regression used to be fun & helpful for me though it's always been completely involuntary, but i think it is a coping mechanism i have outgrown and it simply causes me problems now.
I regress! I regress around 3-6
Yes! Thank you for bringing this topic up it isn’t talked about enough! X
@Moolies I agree!!
I've had a weird time with it lately, I've been in agere spaces since I was a teenager always assuming that it was just a coping mechanism but recent experiences have made me realize that I more likely have DID with quite a few system littles. Either way the ages are roughly 2-8 and it's always been directly related to coping with my trauma but it can be for fun and I frequently don't have control over the regression, I can regress with or without a caregiver and I enjoy playing with other littles for fun but it doesn't really help any coping. It can also help with my mental health surrounding my physical health, between the combination of my autism affecting my introspection and causing urinary urgency and my spine/cfs not always letting me walk I have to use diapers occasionally and it has been kind of hard on my self esteem, it's not as bad when I use cute diapers and regress young enough that it doesn't feel as weird.
@AnimalBoy totally! I regress from like 0-14 well I usually feel 14 but I can be baby ages often toddler and anything in between also need diapers
@BabyBells I think I technically regress to a teenager about 15 or 16, one of my alters seems to be roughly the same emotionally and stuff as i was then but when I was a teenager my CFS was so bad I was constantly alseep or so tired and depressed I felt completely empty so it feels more like the lack of a personality or a dark spot in place of what should be a person than anything else. I also haven't really switched to it much as an adult since its not really ever helpful to me now that my CFS is a bit better and being in that mind set sucks.
I regress when in stressful situations to about 6-7 And I regress when around other littles or agere's, especially with my system having seven or eight littles haha It's a comfort thing for me, especially since most of my characters I make tend to be on the younger side
@Gladius ooooo
I regress as well!
@RattheRemi yay!! hi friend!!
I am!! -River
@River_KpopLuv Nice to meet you river!
I'm not sure if I regress or not but I have a similar experience!! Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about it? I would love to learn more!!
@simbaandash absolutely!!
