Hi, everyone! I have secondary adrenal insufficiency due to long term use of prednisone for an autoimmune disease. I really want off the prednisone so my endocrinologist is trying to work with me. She said no promises but we could try. I made it to 5mg okay but when I got to alternating 4 & 5 every other day I started to notice a difference in the way I felt. When I dropped to 4 every day, I have become so sick. I havenāt been able to get out of bed. She had me bump back up to 5. Iām so discouraged, not to mention feel like death. Have any of you experienced this?
I was a looooong time, high dose, prednisone user as a kid and it destroyed me. I have other chronic illnesses now with very similar overlap in symptoms, but I have struggled to ever fully get off. Even when I was off, for years, I kept telling providers that I thought I was dying. No helpful advice but youāre not alone!
Sorry to hear about your struggles. I have several chronic illnesses too and donāt want more from the prednisone. Iām down to 4.5 & 4mg every other day but I am so nauseous 24/7. I called my NP today and she said adrenal issues wonāt cause nausea but my endocrinologist said they would. Go figure lol. Seems no one is ever on the same page.
