my familys dog just died and i feel like shit because I was the last one to see him alive but he ran away and I have two kids and I cant do everything i told my parents pls take better care of the dog I cant do everything by myself. So when i found out he drowned i keep blaming myself now and i feel like worse shit. They all left me and my kids to go be with my sister as if my feelings are null and void because i didnt cry in front of them.

I’m so sorry. Please allow yourself to grieve, everybody here on Alike gives you permission to! ❤️ it sounds like your family is projecting a lot, and you don’t deserve that.

Honestly this isn't your fault, I know it's easier said than done to realise that but you can't do everything all by yourself all of time, please take this time to think about yourself and relax!

@Silence thats my biggest wish lately. Too just have more then an hour or two to think and process my emotions and what happens in my life. But im on auto run. Be it death, abuse from family, etc..

@Silence Yes, do what you need to do to process it and focus on your own journey, set aside the things you can't change and hug yourself, put on your favorite show get some snacks and know that you deserve to get through this and it isn't your fault.

Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Don’t feel guilty. Ignore your sister and you and the kids grieve together.

@KellyKC theyre really young so they have no idea whats going on. Which makes me feel like worse human when i keep having multiple breakdowns

Wow I think that your sister is being extreme and making you into a villain, it isn't your fault your dog doesn't know how to swim and if you were looking for him then you did the best you could. I'm really sorry this happened to you and they are treating you so poorly. You need to stand up for yourself, this incident does not elicit your child being taken away!

@PrettyPolar2 i try and try to stand up for myself in soo many different approaches. It always gets blamed on my mental instability or health problems, and I’m the irrational, overdramatic, and/or mean one.

@anotherlostsoul wow I feel like you are quoting my family. I had to realize that when one or two people have mental illness in a family and the other members aren't supportive and are hostile it is because they made the environment so toxic while you were growing up and you are suffering to this day. They don't care if they continue to make you suffer even while you are down like this. I don't know them so this is me relating my family to yours, correct me if I'm wrong. Hopefully when this calms down and you get your sweet children back you will be able to love them as you do and slowly distance yourself from your family. Kind happy people will come into your life as you become healthy without them constantly bringing you down. I have so much faith in you!
