@sleepyhippo my therapist may be an option for this, but as far as researching options - i have, and all that comes up are autism centers that have autism speaks and ABA mentioned somewhere, as well as the whole text on the websites being directed at parents only, no adults or autistic people themselves (and i have yet to find any significant mentionings of adhd anywhere locally) 😭😭 still looking though🤞

Depending on where you live there could be a place to get screened near you, if your therapist won't then I'd ask how you could get in touch with a screening place to get a test done so then at least you know.

I have Kaiser insurance now and they had a person whose job is specifically sorting autism diagnoses, so I got mine through that. i never managed to find a specialist before that who would do me an adult autism diagnosis, tho I've heard they exist independently

"Oh really! How long have you specialized in diagnosing autism spectrum disorder?" "I don't" "Exactly. If you do your research you'll find that there are many autistic people who for various reasons don't get their diagnosis until later in life. So I'd like that referral, or a note in my chart that you refuse to give the referral"

There’s a doctor online who had screening tests, and who does evaluations. She’s actually autistic herself, which is really nice. Insurance doesn’t cover it but the price is pretty reasonable and there’s a way to make the diagnosis valid in the US if that’s where you are. If you’re out of other options I recommend checking out their stuff

Take a reference that shows the diagnostic bias. Since you're non-binary I can't provide any exact information but I know that afab people tend to get diagnosed a lot later in life if that applies to you

wondering the same 👋 i was jUst researching this last night. I suspect I have adhd + autism, and have told my therapist but she isn't in a position to screen or evaluate for those 😭

@RyeRyeBread you can ask your therapist for recommendations of someone who can screen, or do your own research for ADHD/autism diagnoses near you
