It's hard to say for sure! My bpd diagnosis was hard to get, my original therapist refused to help because he didn't like labels. The issue is the only real and most effective treatment for borderline is DBT, which you need a bigger diagnosis for insurance to cover. Once I switched therapists and she gave me the proper diagnosis I could start working to get the proper treatment. I should be starting soon!! However it is really hard. I find a lot of resentment towards the people who I perceive as having caused this issue for me, and have to stop myself from blowing up at them. And it's also hard to talk about it because I'm a very self expressive and artistic person, I dress very vividly, so many people take it as just another tiktok kid trying to get attention and excuse their shitty behavior š

BPD is not a curse, it is simply a product of your trauma. You are not doomed, you will get better, but only if you want to. This is not a easy thing for anyone to have to deal with, it's truly a journey. So long as you invest your time and energy into improvement, you will see progress. Best of luck!
Super positive after years of being misdiagnosed
@puffeddragon on average people with BPD are misdiagnosed 5/7 times throughout their life
bpd~ POSITIVE. i finally knew why. maybe not justification for everything i've done, but absolutely an explanation. now you can move forward and not spend time on meds you don't need and start DBT.
@tswift learning ones self is the fastest way to improve. We are all unique, BPD is not a death sentence, it is simply a complexity. You are not different, you are special!
In depends on the diagnosis. For my bipolar I do think it was very beneficial. For borderline it comes with pros and cons. Itās great knowing thereās a reason to all these thing Iām experiencing but since borderline has such a stigma it can be challenging to deal with that

@Kai36chambers if you haven't read it yet, read The Body Keeps The Score. It has fundamental changed the way I look at everything when it comes to mental illness
