So I just got a new therapist a couple months ago after having the same one for 5 years. It's been an adjustment but I thought he was a good fit because he is also a trans man and has experience with cptsd and autism. But we started digging into my trauma really early on before he set me up with any coping skills (being physically disabled I've struggled to keep consistent skills) and I believe this is impacting me a lot. Every day I'm unlocking new memories or thinking back to things and I've been so angry all the time about everything. My therapist has apologized and we're changing course but it's just a bit frustrating when I was already in a delicate position mentally and now I'm struggling with what feels like a multi-week trauma response. I'm not sure what I'd like in response, maybe just acknowledgement or if anyone has had similar struggles or dealt with guilt over being angry. Thanks ❤️

I would be angry too!! Remember, there is no reason to feel guilty for how you feel. It's not bad to be frustrated or upset, especially when something is affecting you so much! You are not bad. And your therapist is not mad at you. I'm glad your therapist can relate to you but I'm so sorry he jumped in too fast! Dealing with trauma stuff can be scary, and I hope you're able to figure out a happy safe place where you can still sort through the things you need to in order to progress and go the direction you want to. Ps. If you're unsure about what to do specifically but want ideas, I recommend IFS therapy, it's the only therapy model that has evidence shown to help and heal trauma. -It's called internal family systems but it's actually not about your family necessarily, it's about the different parts of you and how they are working together and against each other.

@YanyLaurel thank you so much, just hearing that it's okay to be frustrated and upset over things means a lot. I have heard of IFS before and I had one friend who was starting to try it out with a therapist, but I never looked into it too much. I definitely need to check that out, especially because I've been hearing a lot of people praising it lately.
How long have you seen him?
@Dragonrollz I've been seeing him for a little over two months
I started therapy last year, I felt like every day I was being triggered left and right. Things have levelled out enough that I feel like I don't have to always be on edge, but it was exhausting and horrible when it was still going. I hope things level out for you too 💜
@cozybunbun I'm so sorry you had to go through that, yeah it gets exhausting. Thanks for the encouragement, it's good to remember that even if things don't feel good right now they can and will get better
