This might be a weird question but... I'm thinking about looking into jobs soon and for people who are anti social and work, have BPD and work and also struggle with depression and work... What are your jobs/jobs that you've been able to tolerate? Just trying to get an idea. Everytime I Google this, it gives me crap you have to have some masters degree for lmao. and well, I don't have the financial aid nor money for that kind of college. š¤·š»āāļø

Iām a day care teacher. I donāt talk about my mental illnesses at work because I donāt want people to think Iām incompetent but it actually does help. I love kids and they make me happy. Iām good at what I do despite my mental illnesses.

The easiest for me is a register job. Counting the money and handling scanning items and looking 'too busy to talk' gives me peace. Weirdly enough when I worked as a correctional officer for a prison it made me kinda relaxed because I didn't have to deal with people and I got paid to ignore people lol. I just did my own thing for the most part. And it was pretty nice.
when i was really struggling i didn't want to be around people. i opted for overnight work. i worked in a bakery overnight for a year and at a residential treatment facility as an overnight aide for a few months. i have no degrees. these definitely didn't involve a lot of interactions with people. good luck finding what you are looking for š§”

My profession is that I work with adults with developmental disabilities in their group home. It's pretty easy honestly depending on the home you work in and it's pretty relaxing. You just help them prepare meals, give showers if needed, pick them up from their day programs if they go to one, clean the house, and hang out with them. If you get a good group of clients it can be a really fun job actually! My client has bpd too and is very verbal so we relate a LOT and we get along very well! My other client is nonverbal but she's honestly such a joy when she's happy. Sometimes they may have challenging behaviors like verbal or physical aggression, property destruction, elopement (running away), or self injurious behaviors, but my girls don't hit. The only downside is it doesn't pay well usually. It's close to minimum wage most of the time but sometimes there can be opportunities to move up with the company which involves a pay raise and it really gives me a sense of purpose helping others! Like I've been at this job for 6 months and I scored a lead position with a $1.25 raise after 4 months of working here!
Home care aide has been a life saver for me. I help take care of a physically disabled person 35 hrs a week. I get paid amazing. And 90% of my job is just me sitting and watching movies with her, or cooking/cleaning. Where I live you don't need to be a cna for home care as you don't have to administer meds

So honestly, I did some janitorial work for a big hospital and it was amazing. Best job I ever had. I never really had to deal with people. We cleaned their rooms when they were away for physical therapy. There few that I did desk with were usually the nurses needing something cleaned asap, or the patient came back from therapy. Overall, it was good work that kept me in shape, was emotionally rewarding, and cleaning helps to distract my mind.
@Leviathans_Lover The few I dealt with* sorry lol
I work in retail but only 8-12 hours a week! I do find it pretty overwhelming at times, but I like being distracted by deliveries etc, it definitely depends on the day I would suggest something away from customers etc if you find talking to people tricky like me!
@Arianwen I have a love hate relationship with talking to people. I absolutely hate it and get very nervous, I worry about what they think of me and am I gonna miss up something? And I worry about the "Karen" customers complaining about nonesense... At the same exact time when I was a nail tech, as soon as I was there and *forced* to talk, I was great at it. Very polite and very friendly. Everyone complimented me on this and I tried to please the Karen clients. If I couldn't help them then my boss took over and was the b--ch. So it's very nerve wracking for me but like I'd say 70% if not 80% of people really liked my attitude. I just psyche myself out. š I thought about factory or warehouse work so I'm not with the general public.
having a job with bpd can be so so hard sometimes. i have has really bad says and crazy good days at all my jobs but here are some i had/have :) office manager- this is my current job and some days are harder than others. ive been here for 2 years (which for me is long term) so i know what I am doingā¦ but the patients and my boss make it miserable some days nanny- best job ive had!!! lots of free time AND DOWN TIME!!! older kids are easier and can be quite fun :) server- my memory is HORRIBLE because of my medicines so this one was hard production intern- loved it but it was horrible for my mental health. i worked 80 hours a week and ran myself dry i am currently job searching again so i am so excited to hear everyoneās responses!!!
@lindseeeey thank you! How did you get into office management? Did you have to have any experience? Being a server or going into fast food for entry level jobs scares me :( but I might have to š„ What's production intern? Is that factory work? My therapy people are trying to set me up with volunteering at local animal shelters to start and see how I do if it's applicable and also because I don't have any work experience really except 2 nail tech jobs. I also love animals so much so we'll see what becomes of it.

@italianxpeaches wait also, just read your thing about the animal shelter and i think thats such a great idea!
@italianxpeaches I had no experience in an office! Chiropractic offices usually hire no experience pay okay. I got lucky and got hired at a pretty busy office so the pay is livable!! do you have a resume?
