hello all, this is my first time posting just trying out this app. I am deaf in my left ear, due to having a tumor at the base of my skull. It was an extremely rare the type of tumor. It all started with a whooshing in my ear and luckily I got it removed in time.. My question is what is the best way to cope with being half deaf? How do you let people know?

I’m completely deaf in my left ear and moderately in my right. I usually tell people I’m Deaf and get a funny look when I start talking to them 😂 Honestly I just roll with it, most people are kind enough to help but occasionally you get people who think I’m lying. Have you ever tried BiCross hearing aids? I have them and it helps a TON when people try to speak on my deaf side.

Im half deaf in my right ear. Been like that for 15 years but it just started getting bad again. What I do is I just live life as normal, but I have to ask people to speak up. Idk how else to cope with it. Btw how could u tell it was a tumor? They told me 3 months ago rather I'm going deaf cuz my never is Dying (which it's now affecting my whole body so it could be that) or my skull is broke somewhere. I want to be careful if it is a tumor.

I find it best to let people know! Tell them and get used to telling them how they can help you hear ie: talking louder, moving to your hearing ear, face you when they talk..

I'm hoh in both ears and I cope by remembering that I'm able to be bilingual from signing. And let people know by just usually showing them a medical band that says I'm hearing impaired

Just tell them that you can’t hear out of your left ear due to Tumor better be honest and then you can adjust to situations, I am HOH since birth so I know no difference also be good to use apps like Caption Live on Android or Ava for free CC , I like to use those apps for daily living.
