Hello everyone I'm new here and I just want to connect with new people that understand what I'm going through. It drives me crazy that my own family can't even back me up. They all say lose weight and your health issues will go away. Being I have depression I slip into an episode and it sucks because I have a 10yr old to take care of. Anyways I just have a question for the people who have IBS. Is it normal to have blood now and then when you flare up? My family doctor just wants to me change my diet and that's all she does. She doesn't answer my questions anymore.

Black tarry stool would be upper GI bleed and that is absolutely not normal. Bright red blood usually is a hemmy or fissure, etc. It can be normal, but you need to consult a GI to determine what is causing it. Diet is a huge part of IBS which is why your family doctor is saying that, but your family doctor is also not a GI and can only answer so much in regards to your IBS. My PCP will not answer any IBS questions, she always asks my GI or has me ask my GI

@100Percent_K I've changed my diet and nothing works for my stomach. It all irriates my stomach and my meds barely work anymore. That's why I've came to the point ima eat what I like. I hate to be negative about it, but I've tried every diet I could think of

if you’re having bowel movements with a significant amount of blood you should be evaluated for IBD. have you seen a GI doctor?

@Snoopy92 years ago I went. Not since I've had kids 10 years ago. I'll have to make an appointment with the GI doc. Thanks
