I can be at my lowest and I'll still say I'm fine because I don't know how to even say that I'm not, I feel like I have to keep up this strong front. I just hate having to act strong when I'm not strong.

It’s not your fault. You’ve been socialized to respond that way. Try to not be so hard on yourself and look to progress with baby steps to saying how u really feel. Then eventually reaching out & talking about it.

I find that I still stick to scripts like “I’m fine” when asked how I’m doing, even when I’m really not. Sometimes I’ll break it and be like, “actually I’m not fine” but that’s usually after waiting a few minutes and thinking about it. Our bodies need to feel safe enough to share, and it’s difficult to reach that point when we’re under stress and depressed. You are doing your best! Reaching out here and admitting how you really feel is such an important step. And I know it sucks to just be told over and over how strong you’re being when you feel like you’re falling apart. But you are persistent and there is strength in vulnerability. We’ve definitely been told/shown in neuronormative society that we have to be strong in a certain way, but you get to decide what strengths you want to use to feel connected.

For one anyone who know anything about how humans say "I'm fine", it really means save me or help me. Either way it's a cry for help. It's a word we use when we have no words or emotion.
