Struggling with Pretending to be Okay

lately, I've been ignoring what parts of me that feel bad to just try and get something out of my life. everyone tells me that they are proud of my growth but it's all manufactured. the only positive response I get from people is when I pretend I'm not sick at all. I'm getting so frustrated cuz I just don't know what to do

Can you help? connect today

I know it's easier to hide the pain sometimes, but if you're in pain... tell someone.

I totally relate to this. It feels like (for me at least) other people are setting boundaries on your abilities based on their assumptions. Like you would be burdening them or appear to be attention seeking if you don't follow their expectations. I think the best way to solve this is by telling those around you how you are doing, without any need to do anything. Just let them know that every day could look different, and this is how I feel on this particular day. You set your own boundaries and push yourself only when you want to. I know this is soooo much easier said than done, but in slowly opening up to those closest to you hopefully it will help you strengthen and grow those relationships with your chronic illness in mind.

I feel that. I feel like I have to pretend to be alright to make others happy or even they just assume I'm better because I haven't "complained" for a while. It's hard. I get extremely frustrated as well. If you ever want to talk, let me know
