I was recently diagnosed with bipolar after a psychosis episode which sent me to an inpatient hospital, I am experiencing hypomania right now but I don't know how to calm down without smoking weed. Any suggestions?

Medications can take up to 6 weeks to start working so call your doctor and tell them you are struggling so they can assess the situation

Hi, have you tried seeing a psychiatrist? are you taking any medications? In the beginning, I wouldn't have been able to control myself without weed, but today I take lithium and I'm pretty balanced. I quit drugs and alcohol, I even recently started a new job. This medicine saved me.

@Derek20 yes I see a psychiatrist and they are still testing me on a bunch of new meds, I've heard of lithium and I can bring it up to her, I'm just scared I'll take advantage of it, is it an addictive drug? I'm glad it helped you!!

@pandasss I take 1800mg of lithium every night. It’s the only bipolar med I’ve been on but it works perfectly. Only issue is you cannot take it on an empty stomach or you’ll experience extreme nausea. It’s not “addictive.” In the sense that you crave it at alll… (lol wtf???) but just like any med ur body will react if you cold turkey. Maybe send u ibo an episode but who knows. Not necessarily
