Diagnosed with Functional Movement Disorder, but it doesn't feel right

Hi. I'm Esri. (ehz-re) I was diagnosed with Functional Movement Disorder (aka Functional neurological disorder) this year for my tics, but it just doesn't feel right for what I'm experiencing and what I have read about it. I was also diagnosed with anxiety and depression last year as well as this mystery thing that they just labeled as "adjustment reaction." I am not sure as to what else I may have because as of right now I'm broke and also there aren't many doctors/specialists near me. I live in a secluded farm/college town

@Mop sorry for the late reply. But yeah. My neurologist was making it sound like the only two things that I could possibly have are either Tourette's or FND. She even gave me a packet in case I got confused between the two but it just made me realize how much more of the stuff on the Tourette's side I related with other than the mostly male demographic and symptom onset between ages 7-10. She told me neither have tests to be positive on if I had them or not and just labeled me with one.

the only other condition I personally know of that involves tics is turrets (my phone won't stop auto correcting that, I'm giving up. Hopefully you know what I mean) but I'm sure theres a lot that have it as a symptom. If this diagnosis doesn't describe what you're feeling right I'd totally keep pursuing the issue. And you're not faking anything, you were just sent to the wrong person.

I also live in a rural area. Whenever my family wanted to look into something for me and see a specialist we had to drive 2 hours or something. It's really tough. What kind of unaddressed symptoms do you have?

  @Mop All I have are tics, suppressable, felt before they happen, simple and complex tics. In fact when I saw the physical therapist that I was supposed to go to she told me that she couldn't help me because I wasn't exhibiting the symptoms that I was supposed to. Just does wonders for the feeling like I'm a faker for it...
