Hi, sometimes the contractions and pain we feel can be ovulation pains, or alternatively sometimes when the egg leaves the ovary it can leave behind a little bleeding that reaches the peritoneal cavity and causes irritation there and severe lower abdominal pain. This is called hemorrhagic corpus luteum. There isn't too much to do with both things except take painkillers at home and rest.
